This year’s Glenwood Springs Airport Day will be held 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22. Kiwanis will be offering a pancake breakfast. The Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum in Denver will provide Kidspace, including kid aviation-related activities such as simulators and making model airplanes. The local skyjumpers will give demo jumps, radio-controlled airplanes will be flown, and local pilots will offer kids rides.For information, contact airport manager Dick Weinberg at 618-0778.
Berthod Motors hosts the fifth annual 4×4 Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Enter four-wheel-drive vehicles in either compact, mid-size or full-size classes. Any make or model is welcome. Registration is free. Best of class and best of show prizes will be awarded, an articulation ramp contest and a boulder run will be held, refreshments and food will be catered by Hi Country 4-Wheelers, and prize giveaways will be featured in the event. The seventh annual Ferrari Fall Foliage Tour features fast cars from the past three generations and a lunch outing for owners to raise money for the Glenwood Springs Professional Firefighters Association. The public is invited to view the cars at no cost from 11:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Saturday in the Iron Mountain Tramway parking lot for the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. Two lucky winners will receive an immediate ride to Palisade with the tour – one in a 550 Maranello and the other in a rare Ford GT traveling with the group. Raffle tickets for the drawing for the rides benefit the Glenwood Springs Professional Firefighters Association, Local 4341. Winners must be present to ride on with the tour, and the fire department will arrange a return trip to Glenwood if necessary. The Grand Valley Quilt Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sept. 29, at the Battlement Mesa School House on Road 300. It is sponsored by the Grand Valley Historical Society and the Battlement Mesa Sew & Sew Quilters. Admission is $3 as a suggested donation.
