Snowshoe Shuffle

What: Colorado Animal Rescue, C.A.R.E., invites you to the annual Snowshoe Shuffle, an 8K race on snowshoes through Babbish Gulch, starting and ending at Sunlight Mountain Resort. All fees will go to benefiting the shelter animals. All in-person participants will receive a medal and event shirt, sizes available on a first come, first serve basis and be entered into a raffle to win some fabulous prizes provided by Cripple Creek Backcountry, Slope & Hatch, White House Pizza and many more. Additional prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each category. If participants don’t have snowshoes, there will be assorted sizes of snowshoes available for use in the race. Race check-in and headquarters will be in the Main Lodge at Sunlight Mountain Resort. 



When: 9 a.m. registration, 10 a.m. race start, Saturday, Dec. 21.

Where: Sunlight Mountain Resort at 10901 Co Rd. 117 in Glenwood Springs.



Cost: $15 for kids, $30 for teens and adults.


Holiday Celebration at El Dorado

What: Celebrate the magic of Christmas at El Dorado’s Christmas Holiday Pop-Up Party. Immerse yourself in the festive spirit as you shop for unique, handcrafted products from talented local artists, enjoy the glow of a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and listen to the joyful sounds of holiday music. Sip on specialty cocktails crafted exclusively for the season and soak in the warmth of community and creativity. Bring your friends and family for an unforgettable evening of holiday cheer.

When: 4-11 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 21.

Where: El Dorado at 358 Main St. in Carbondale.

Cost: Free


Kids Night Out: S’mores and More

What: Parents enjoy a night out while the kids have fun at the Community Center. Supervised activities include Jingle Bell Skate, rock climbing, and inflatable obstacle course. Sandwich making station for dinner and s’mores for dessert. For grades Kindergarten through fifth. 

When: 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 21.

Where: Glenwood Springs Parks and Recreation at 116 Wulfsohn Rd. in Glenwood Springs.

Jingle Bell Skate

What: Get into the holiday spirit with Glenwood Springs Parks & Rec for our Second Annual Jingle Bell Skate event. Come bundled up to skate around the rink with our mascot, Squeaky. Off the rink you’ll be able to enjoy cookie decorating, hot chocolate, and holiday crafting. Great for all ages – kids, teens and adults. 

When: 6-7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 21.

Where: Glenwood Springs Parks and Recreation at 116 Wulfsohn Rd. in Glenwood Springs.

Cost: $10 pre registration, $12 day of event, skate rentals are included in the fee.


TRUU Winter Solstice Celebration: Honoring the Darkness and Welcoming the Light

What: Welcoming the Darkness: Step into the stillness of winter’s longest night with candlelight, stories, and gentle music. This evening gathering will explore the gifts of the dark—releasing, reflecting, and preparing for new beginnings. The event concludes with a bonfire, warm cider and seasonal treats under the night sky. Welcoming The Light: On the morning after Solstice, join us to celebrate the return of the light. Through song, story and ritual, we will embrace the Sun’s journey back and carry sparks of hope into the season ahead. The morning service will feature a special performance by the TRUU Singers.

When: Honoring the Darkness: 7-9 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 21. 

Welcoming the Light: 10-11:30 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 22.

Where: Third Street Center, 520 South Third St. at Carbondale. 

Cost: Free


Hotel Colorado Christmas Day Dinner

What: Hotel Colorado is having a Christmas Day Dinner. Read the whole menu at hotelcolorado.com/events/christmas-day-dinner/. Reservations are required, to make a reservation, call 970-928-6511. 

When: 2-8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 25.

Where: Hotel Colorado at 526 Pine St. in Glenwood Springs

Cost: $86 for adults, $32 for children.


Noon Year’s Eve at the Community Center

What: Ring in the New Year early with a family celebration. An aerialist, stilt walkers, magicians, balloon animals, face-painting fairies, a live ice sculptor and Sventastic the one-man circus show will be present. Ice skating, swimming, and climbing wall activities will be available for everyone. Wrap up the event with a spectacular New Year’s countdown, featuring their biggest balloon drop ever, followed by an exciting dance party. Submit your New Year’s resolutions for a chance to win Community Center Memberships, punch passes, swim lessons, youth recreational sports, athletic enrollments and more.

When: Noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28.
