Valentine’s Day Couples Climbing

What: Looking for a date night option for Valentine’s Day that’s different? Climb with your beau and buy a couples’ pass on Valentine’s Day. Free shoe rentals are available.

Sunshine & Daydreams Winter Escape

What: Escape the winter chill and step into a tropical paradise at El Dorado this weekend for Sunshine and Daydreams — a tiki takeover featuring specialty drinks that transport you to an island oasis. Island vibes, exotic cocktails and warm beats transform the bar into a sun-soaked oasis. Grateful Ed on Friday will be spinning laid-back grooves and feel-good jams. DJ Pronto Pup on Saturday will be bringing tropical and Grateful Dead vibes. Trade in your winter blues for a night or two of tropical warmth. Dress in your best tiki-inspired attire and let the sunshine and daydreams take you away. 

When: Grateful Ed at 8-11 p.m., Friday, Feb. 14

DJ Pronto Pup at 8-11 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15

Louis Armstrong in Black History Live

What: The Black History Live tour is an annual recognition each February of the significant contributions African Americans have made and continue to make to art, culture, economic development, education, human rights, medicine, public services, politics and sports. The 2025 statewide tour will feature the living-history portrayals of Harriet Tubman by scholar and actor Becky Stone and Louis Armstrong by scholar and actor Marvin Jefferson. 

This performance will focus on Armstrong. The portrayals will be performed in a Chautauqua format, a first-person dramatization of a historical figure. The speaker’s monologue will last around 40 minutes, followed by 20 minutes of Q&A, first in character and then out of character as the scholar and performer.

When: 3-4 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 20
Where: New Space Theater at CMC Spring Valley, 3000 County Road 114, Glenwood Springs.

Rifle Climbing Center Grand Opening Celebration

What: Join the Rifle Climbing Center for their grand opening extravaganza. This event lasts from Friday to Sunday and there will be half price day passes on Saturday. All clients will be entered into a raffle for gear and membership. There will be free demos and consults from local health and wellness providers. KDNK Chili Cook Off

What: It’s time for KDNK’s annual Chili Cook-Off. Prizes will be presented to winners of Best Red Chili, Best Green Chili, Best Posole and Best Cornbread, with an overall winner chosen. The bar is set high, so don’t mess around and bring your A-Game. Bring a crockpot to keep your chili warm and any condiments you want the eaters to add. Beverages will be available as well. Admission cost allows all-you-can-eat chili.

When: 4-6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22
Where: KDNK Community Radio, 76 S. Second St., Carbondale.

Cost: $10 for non-members, $5 for members, contestants eat free.


Puzzle and Pie Night

What: Join Carbondale Recreation for their Third Annual Puzzle & Pie Night. Get a group of friends or family together and enjoy a great Sunday night out. Teams of one to four people have three hours to complete a 500 piece custom jigsaw puzzle. The first team to complete the puzzle, or the team with the least amount of puzzle pieces left after three hours wins a $120 chamber gift certificate to share between the team. Second place prize is a $100 chamber gift card and 3rd place is an $80 chamber gift card. Cheese and pepperoni pizza pies, vegetables, and soda water will be provided to all teams. Outside food and drink is allowed except alcohol. Teams will have their own tables spaced out around the basketball courts in the gymnasium. There is no age limit to team members, however puzzlers must have the attention span to stay focused on the puzzle the entire 3 hours. The cost does not allow entry to any other part of the gym or access to recreation toys or equipment.
