Al White looking at a possible run for Taylor’s senate seat

After serving seven years as the last seven years as state representative for House District 57, Al White is being encouraged by Republican leadership to take aim at the senate seat soon to be vacated by fellow Republican Jack Taylor.

While, who is from the Winter Park area, has served as the Assistant Majority Leader, Vice Chair of the Business Affairs and Labor committee, a member of the Education committee and Legislative Audit committee.

White was re-elected as the representative for District 57, which includes parts of western Garfield County, in the 2006 election.

White has also been a member of the Colorado Tourism Office board for the past six years.

“I am honored to have served as State Representative for House District 57 for the past seven years, but I feel like I am not yet done championing the causes of the people on the Western Slope,” White said in a press release. “After talking to legislators and party leaders, I will decide the first week of September whether I can aid the constituents of the Western Slope further by representing them as their State Senator in the 8th district.”

This will be White’s final term as state representative due to term limits.

Taylor, who lives in Steamboat Springs, serves District 8, which includes all of Garfield County and parts of Eagle County.
