Albena Marie Duroux Benboe

Albena Marie Duroux Benboe, of Colorado Springs, died of natural causes Sunday, July 6, 2003, at her home. She was 78.

She was born Aug. 31, 1924, on a ranch near Aspen to Nora and Albert Duroux. She spent her childhood on the family ranches on Maroon Creek and McLain Flats, and graduated from Aspen Union High School in 1942.

Ms. Benboe worked as a telephone operator in Glenwood Springs. In 1956, she helped organize and open the telephone company office in Aspen.

Mountain Bell telephone company transferred Ms. Benboe to the Colorado Springs office in 1964, where she worked until retiring in 1981.

She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, and spending time with her family, friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by a brother, Rene Duroux; and by two infant sisters.

Ms. Benboe is survived by nieces and nephew-in-law Betty Duroux, and Marilyn and David Williams; by nephews and nieces-in-law Leroy and Janice Duroux, Gerald Duroux, Roger and Abbie Duroux, and Daniel and Susan Duroux; by a sister-in-law, Almeda Duroux; and by many great-nieces and great-nephews.

At her request, no services will be held.

Mountain View Mortuary of Colorado Springs is in charge of arrangements.
