Albert V. Pittenger

Albert V. Pittenger of Clay Center, Kan., died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Medicalodge in Clay Center. He was 93.

He was born April 15, 1910, in Fostoria, Kan., to Jessa Hays and Louis Pittenger.

He married Patricia Reed on Oct. 24, 1940.



Mr. Pittenger worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 20 years.

He also worked at the Wakefield Arboretum.



He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Mr. Pittenger is survived by his wife, Patricia Pittenger of Clay Center; by sons and daughter-in-law Arnold and Marsha Pittenger of New Castle, and Phillip Pittenger of Reno, Nev.; by daughter and son-in-law Phyllis and Bill Sherbert of Clay Center; by a sister, Helen Allen of Santa Ana, Calif.; by eight grandchildren, including Jennifer Livingston, and Shane Pittenger and Brandi Pittenger of New Castle; and by 11 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Thursday, June 5, at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Chapel in Clay Center, with the Rev. Glenn Tombaugh officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Clay County Health Department.
