Alleged sex assault in Carbondale investigated

CARBONDALE, Colorado – Carbondale Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault on a local woman who was leaving a downtown establishment in the early morning hours of July 11.

According to a police department press release, the woman described the suspect as a clean-shaven Hispanic male in his mid 20s, about 5-foot-8 or 5-foot-9 inches tall and between 180-200 pounds.

Police are working to create a composite drawing of the alleged suspect.

No other details about the incident are being released at this time.

Meanwhile, local police advise people leaving downtown in the early morning hours to try to walk home with friends and not alone.

Persons with information regarding the suspected assault are asked to notify the Carbondale Police at 963-2662.
