Alpine Bank buys land near Rifle Wal-Mart site
RIFLE – Alpine Bank recently bought a one-acre parcel at the 48-acre site where Wal-Mart expects to build a new store, but the purchase will not affect Alpine’s downtown Rifle bank.
“The downtown bank isn’t going anywhere,” said Alpine Bank-Rifle president Jay Rickstrew.
Alpine Bank paid Rifle Retail Ventures LLC $400,000 for the parcel, located south of Interstate 70 on Airport Road, according to records at the Garfield County Courthouse.
Rickstrew said the bank has no immediate plans for the parcel, which is next to one of the bank’s existing operations centers.
“It was an opportunity for us to pick up space,” Rickstrew said.
Alpine Bank was founded in Carbondale 30 years ago, and reached $1 billion in total assets last year, according to the bank’s statement of condition.
