Alva Dean Monger, 78, of Silt, passed away August 26, 2008 at E. Dene Moore Care Center in Rifle.

Alva was born January 30, 1930 in Fairview, Oklahoma to Oscar and Manila (Combs) Monger. Alva moved to Silt three years ago from Kauai, Hawaii. He drove truck for most of his life and was a member of the Rocky Mountain Baptist Church.

Alva was preceeded in death by his parents; first wife Mary Ellen Gingrich; second wife Shirley Rayner; his son Gray Monger; four sisters and three brothers.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Teddy Ray and Vicki Monger; brother Estel Mavin; brother-in-law Dink Lenard; sisters-in-law Leatha and Lovella Monger; grandchildren Teresa Monger, Terry (Danielle) Monger, Toni-Marie Monger (John Vance), Sarah Monger and Mary Beth Monger; and great-granddaughters Bailey, Dacey, Kelsey and soon, Trinady .

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
