Alvin F. Janicek

Alvin F. Janicek, of New Castle, Colo., died Friday, May 3, 2002, in Glenwood Springs, Colo., of natural causes. He was 69.Mr. Janicek was born Sept. 18, 1932, in Burwell, Neb., to Betsy and Frank Janicek.He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1956 and moved to Colorado in 1962.Mr. Janicek worked for 50 years in the automotive and heavy equipment field. He operated several repair shops in the Roaring Fork Valley and worked at Mid-Continent Coal & Coke in Carbondale. He is a former longtime resident of Carbondale.He was preceded in death by sister Laverna Janicek and sons Gary Janicek and Dougie Janicek.Mr. Janicek is survived by: his wife of 46 years, Betty Janicek; son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Cheryl Janicek, of Lakewood, Colo.; daughter-in-law Cathy Janicek, of Parachute, Colo.; brother and sister-in-law George and Mary Lou Janicek, of Burwell, Neb.; grandchildren Jessica, Michael, Kevin and Jacquelyn; and great-grandchildren Triston and Kali.A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2002, at the Farnum Holt Chapel in Glenwood Springs.Farnum Holt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
