An appreciative Frenchman

Jacques Houot

Dear Editor,

French and American people must still have a good relationship. Politics cannot be mixed with sports. I was born in 1935. Monsieur Chirac was only 2 years old. He doesn’t remember the American Marines helping the French. I don’t understand why the French government doesn’t remember 1944. I remember when I was 9 years old in 1944 the Americans liberating the French from Adolph Hitler. If Americans were not there, French people would be speaking German today. And now, today the French and Germans get along with each other. They understand love is better than hate.

Let’s let Mousier Lance Armstrong win his fifth Tour De France in peace and keep Chamonix-Aspen hand in hand. I ask people from each side of the Atlantic to not ruin our sporting friendship. Fight the right way, on the bike, on the ski slopes and in any other sporting way.

If everybody had my philosophy and thinks no problem, it will be no problem.

Thank you all,

Jacques Houot

P.S. My nickname: Frenchy. Maybe my new nickname should be Freedom Jacques, no Chirac.
