Andrew E. Cordova, 63, of Rifle passed away September 24, 2011 with his family by his side.Andy was born June 7, 1948 in Helper, Utah. He served his country in the Navy during Vietnam and was station in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on the USS Tombigbee. Andy could often be seen in downtown Rifle supervising the various construction projects.He was known by many as the sidewalk super. Andy walked endless miles and helped anyone who needed help. He had a kind heart and a giving spirit. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.Andy was preceded in death by his parents Emma Rose Crespin and Manuel Varela and a sister, Josie West.He leaves behind his brothers Joe Cordova of Englewood, Manuel Varela of Arvada, Emil Varela of Grand Junction and Ernie (Kathy) Varela of Rifle; sisters Rose (Dan) Cameron of Arvada and Ginny (Skip) McDonald of Rifle; special friends Dick & Betty Lynch & family; and numerous nieces and nephews.A Celebration of Remembrance will be held Thursday, Sept. 29, 11:00 am at the Rocky Mountain Baptist Church in Rifle. Pastor Jim Sheets will officiate.
