Animal lovers or haters?
Dear Editor,
Is there no halfway or compromise when it comes to pet compassion? As I read the Oct. 27 article about the New Castle cop shooting a dog named Jenny, I could only think about the first thing the animal shelter said to me when I was adopting our first dog and disclosed that I lived in New Castle.
She said, “If your dog has gotten out and is missing, contact the New Castle police immediately, and keep on them until you get your dog back. They have a history.”
I didn’t understand what that meant until I got a dog-at-large ticket without an explanation, and I didn’t fully understand until I read this article. I was scared then with one dog, and now that I own two, I am even more frightened.
All of Colorado seems to be a very “dog friendly” place except my own backyard.
Maybe the New Castle police need to re-evaluate their dog policy. This act was uncalled for and extremely unprofessional.
