Hot Springs employee named Colorado Hotel and Lodging Association employee of the year

Pattie Peterson was recently named employee of the year by the Colorado Hotel and Lodging Association and was specifically recognized for outstanding inventory management at the Glenwood Hot Springs Sport Shop. She is accompanied by Kjell Mitchell, president and chief executive officer for the Glenwood Hot Springs.

Cardiology team at Valley View expands

Marcus Howell, M.D., who has been practicing cardiology part time at the Heart & Vascular Center at Valley View since 2008, is now a full-time cardiologist at Valley View.

An interventional cardiologist, Howell is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and invasive cardiology. After completing his training in general cardiology, interventional cardiology and vascular medicine at the Texas Heart Institute in Houston, Howell joined Western Slope Cardiology in Grand Junction, practicing there for 11 years. Prior to joining the staff at Valley View’s Heart & Vascular full time he provided clinical services and interventional call part time.

Howell’s clinical interests include general cardiology, interventional cardiology, vascular medicine, endovascular treatment of peripheral arterial disease as well as thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms.

He joins the two full-time cardiologists, Drs. Frank Laws and Michael Rubinstein.

“With the addition of Dr. Howell, we are now a team of three full-time cardiologists at Valley View,” said Dr. Laws, medical director of the Heart & Vascular Center at Valley View. “In addition, we have an excellent staff of nurses, technologists and other specialists who assist us in providing excellent cardiovascular care to our patients.”

Dr. Howell lives in Glenwood with his wife and four children. He enjoys skiing, outdoor activities and spending time with family.
