Alpine Legal Services hires executive director

Kimberly Gent is the new executive director of Alpine Legal Services. She attended Antioch School of Law in Washington, D.C. Since graduating, she has been practicing law in Colorado for more than 25 years. She started her legal career at Pikes Peak Legal Services (PPLS) where she practiced in the areas of housing, social security, divorce, and unemployment law. In 1989, Gent opened up her own law firm in Boulder. She continued to work on a contract basis for Boulder County Legal Services. Initially, her practice focused on helping women in domestic violence situations. Her practice then expanded to include divorce and mediation. Additionally, she worked as a child advocate representing and making recommendations regarding the best interest of children in divorce cases.

More recently, in 2010, she created a law partnership with Christina Ebner. Ebner & Gent, LLC focused on Social Security Disability, helping people through periods of transition as well as providing mediation services for a multitude of disputes.

In addition to her law practice, Gent has served as co-chair for the Juvenile Law Committee, and Alternative Dispute Committee for the Boulder County Bar. She also has volunteered with the Boulder County Aids project, Community Mediation Service, the Arthritis Foundation, and most recently at the Firehouse Art Center in Longmont.

Gent is an avid photographer and enjoys doing yoga. She especially enjoys the time she spends with her two teenage boys who keep her on her toes and constantly challenge the validity of her arguments.
