SAW Spring Open House
Carbondale’s Studio for Arts and Works (SAW) is hosting a spring open house and art sale from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, at 525 Buggy Circle. Join the many artists of SAW as they share their paintings, pottery, jewelry, sculpture, ceramics, metalwork and other creative endeavors. There will also be a silent auction in support of the Carbondale Council on Arts and Humanities (CCAH), live music and refreshments. The event is free and open to the public. Glenwood Railroad Museum Sponsors Rail Fair in conjunction with Amtrak Train Days
The first Glenwood Rail Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at the Glenwood Railroad Museum located in the Glenwood Railroad Depot across the street from the Hotel Denver at 413 Seventh St. The fair will feature exhibits on various aspects of modern and historic railroads, the history of railroads in the Glenwood Springs area, model and toy trains including three operating model train layouts, railroad safety and operations, and rail travel. Organizations participating in the Rail Fair include the Grand Valley Model Railroad Club, Operation Lifesaver, ColoRail, Amtrak and the Glenwood Railroad Museum. Information on the many excursion railroads of Colorado will also be available. There will be a drawing for a pair of round trip train tickets to Denver provided by Amtrak. There is a $1 admission fee to the museum for those individuals 12 and over. Members of area Boy Scout and Girl Scout groups in uniform will receive free admission for this event.
The Carbondale Community United Methodist Church will have a garage sale beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 9, at the church, 385 S. Second St. There will be some antiques, furniture, kids stuff, clothing, etc. No sales before 9 a.m. This is a fundraiser benefiting the church’s missions.
