American Legion seeks help posting flags

American Legion Post 83 of Glenwood Springs is looking for help posting more than 500 U.S. flags by the fallen and deceased veterans’ graves for Memorial Day. A good opportunity for anyone interested in partaking in the true purpose of the Memorial Day Weekend. Meet at 4 p.m. Friday, May 22, near the brick building in the Rosebud Cemetery. Victorian Tea Party

The Rifle Creek Museum is hosting a Victorian Tea Party on Saturday, May 23, with seatings at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Guests can enjoy an old fashioned Victorian Parlor Party with common tea time delectable treats being served. Learn the history of the Stereoscope and photographic viewing cards. Dress attire suggested; feel free to wear hats and gloves. Cost is $15 per person (including a museum tour). Memorial Day Commemoration

The American Legion Post 83 will be conducting its annual Memorial Day Commemoration at 11 a.m. Monday, May 25, at the Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs. The general public is encouraged to attend the ceremony, which gave the upcoming three-day weekend its name.

Memorial Day library closure

All six branches of the Garfield County Libraries will be closed Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day. Normal library hours will resume at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26. You can still browse and request books, movies, and more at, during the closure.
