“5K Walk/Run for Their Lives” and Schneegas open house

The 8th annual “5K Walk/Run for Their Lives” benefit race returns to Silt on June 6. The race, which begins at 8:30 a.m., is a fundraiser for the Pauline S. Schneegas Wildlife Foundation, which rehabilitates and releases injured or orphaned wildlife, with more that 5,000 animals cared for since 1984. An open house will be held at the foundation property beginning at 10 a.m. and is free to the race participants or $10 for the general public. The Lions Club will be providing food for a minimal cost and donation to the foundation. To get to the foundation, take exit 94 (the Mamm Creek exit), and turn south on the bridge. Make an immediate left turn after the bridge onto the Frontage Road/County Road 346. About 1 ½ miles down the road, the road will make a sharp left turn, and parking will be on the right. Call 970- 987-3593 or email for more information.
