Rifle Centennial Park Concert Series lineup announced
The city of Rifle’s Centennial Park Concert Series will take place at 6 p.m. every Sunday through Aug. 16 at the Centennial Park Stage. The remaining lineup, in order, is The Johnny O Band (July 19), Dry Hollow (July 26), The Caleb Dean Band (Aug. 2), Hell Roaring String Band (Aug. 9) and Wide Load (Aug. 16). The concerts are free, and food and drink will be available for sale.
Family Filoha Fireflies, Bats, and Bugs
Stay up late for an evening to explore a special place with your family from 7:30-9:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 21; and Thursday, July 23, at Filoha Meadows Open Space, near Redstone. We’ll meet some of the local residents such as aquatic insects, Townsend’s’ big eared bats, and fireflies, too! We’ll learn about their adaptations through hands-on discovery, games and activities. Once it is dark we’ll try to catch a firefly to hold in our hands and look at closely. Appropriate for families with children of all ages and their parents. Please dress appropriately as the program will happen rain or shine. Registration is required and opens three weeks in advance of programs at http://www.roaringfork.org/events. Participate in The Longevity Project
The Longevity Project is an annual campaign to help educate readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in our valley. This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.
The Silt Branch Library offers Spanish Storytime for children ages 3-6. This eight-week program will run through July 30. Stories, songs, and activities will explore camping and the outdoors. This program will be held on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. For more information, call 970-876-5500.
