Playing with the Past

The Frontier Historical Society hosts a fun evening of frontier gambling with the second installment of its Playing with the Past series. Join the gang at the White Star Saloon (the Elks Lodge at 51939 Highway 6 in West Glenwood) on Saturday, Aug. 29, to learn how to play Faro, Keno, Chuck-a-Luck, Spanish Monte, Bluff and Vingt-Un. Look for Doc Holliday, Kid Curry and other pioneers of Glenwood Springs. Dress in your old west best (optional) and see if Lady Luck is on your side. Social Hour begins at 6:30 p.m. with a talk by Professor Reginald Lamb at 7 p.m. Games begin around 8. $10 gets you into the saloon and a stack of chips to play with. Enjoy a cash bar and club menu with food items for purchase while you gamble the evening away. Adults are welcome. For more information, call 970-945-4448 or email history@rof.net.
