Health Alliance Fair
Custom Body Fitness, Mountain Family Health Centers, LiveWell, Backcountry Chiropractic and Gaia Tree Chinese Medicine have come together to present the Health Alliance Fair from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Custom Body Fitness in La Fontana Plaza, 574 Highway 133 in Carbondale. Get an acupuncture session, chiropractic adjustment, body composition, goal setting guidance, eating habits assessment, healthy cooking and shopping classes, blood pressure reading and sugar levels test. These services are worth more than $300 but cost $15 at the fair. Money collected for this event will be donated to the Mountain Family Health Care Access Pool, a fund that can be drawn on when patients are unable to pay for necessary medical supplies or services. Frontier Historical Society’s 16th annual Ghost Walk
Ghost Walk tours starting at dusk lead guests up the hill by lantern light to the old Linwood Cemetery at 1200 Bennett Ave., where costumed actors portray pioneers from Glenwood Springs’ past including Doc Holliday and Kid Curry. Tours are limited to 30 people each and are recommended for children school-age and up. Participants need to carry lanterns or flashlights for the moderately strenuous 1/3 mile hike up to the cemetery. Tours are at 7, 7:45, 8:30 and 9:15. p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, and Saturday, Oct. 17, Oct. 23-24 and 30-31. Tickets are $18/person for all ages or $10/Frontier Historical Society members and can be reserved with a Visa or MasterCard by calling 970-945-4448 or e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Free Colorado wine and truffle sampling
Grand Avenue Sweets and The Designer’s Vault Design & Wine Room invites local businesses to try out The Colorado Wine & Chocolate Experience in short sampling sessions at no charge. RSVP to Debby at email@example.com for a 10-minute session between 4 and 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 19-21, and indicate the number of people attending and the time you would like to do a tasting. It will be small samples of wine for tasting purposes only. The Designer’s Vault is at 214 Eighth St. below Vectra Bank in Glenwood Springs.
