Summer Reading family picnic

Help us kick off the Carbondale Branch Library’s Summer Reading program at our family picnic from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 8. Fun for kids of all ages with music from the Cowboy Corral, field games, and food from Slow Groovin’ BBQ. Learn more about Summer Reading at or call 970-963-2889.

Apple Tree Summer Reading Program

The New Castle Branch Library invites children of all ages in Apple Tree to join in at the park for stories, activities and crafts. The program meets every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. beginning June 9 and running through July 28. This free program is part of the library’s Summer Reading Program and is open to all ages. Carbondale Rotary Happening

Carbondale Rotary Casino Royale, “What Happens in Carbondale, Stays in Carbondale” is the theme for this year’s Carbondale Rotary Club Happening, taking place from 6-10 p.m. Friday, June 10, at the Carbondale Recreation and Community Center. Enjoy an evening of casino games (craps, roulette, poker and blackjack tables), dinner and drinks, a small silent auction, music and dancing with Valle Musico, and socializing. Proceeds benefit Rotary scholarships for graduating seniors in Carbondale and Basalt. Tickets are $75 each. RSVP to to reserve your tickets.

Second Saturday Market

The Second Saturday West Glenwood Market will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 11 at the Elks Lodge, next to Glenwood Gardens featuring crafts, vintage furniture, and more. Buy, sell or trade items. Food and music. Email for more info.

Meeker Classic Cattledog Trials

At the Meeker Classic Cattledog Trials June 15-19, 140 of North America’s best working cattledogs will gather to match themselves against Meeker’s tough, independent cattle as they compete for the national title. This trial represents the culmination of a year’s worth of qualifying trials as these dogs and their handlers travel from 31 states and provinces in Canada to compete at the National Cattledog Association National Finals.
