Make a difference in the new year

Make a difference in the New Year by teaching someone basic literacy skills. Literacy Outreach needs your help teaching basic literacy skills to adults, including basic reading, writing and math to native English speakers and oral English skills to non-native speakers. Volunteers do not need to speak a foreign language or have prior teaching experience, just a desire to help, the ability to read and speak English, and three hours of time per week to work with an adult.

Literacy Outreach will provide interested volunteers with more information regarding the requirements and rewards at a volunteer informational session from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the Rifle Branch Library, 207 East Ave. Literacy Outreach is a local non-profit teaching essential literacy skills to adults one word at a time. Call 970-945-5282 or visit http://www.literacyoutreach@rof.net for more information.

Reconnect with the Catholic Church

Have you fallen away from the Catholic Church? Whether you stopped attending Mass one year ago or 40 years ago, the church invites you to explore full communion with Jesus Christ and his Church. If you would like to explore this possibility, consider attending a six-part series at St. Stephen Catholic Church after the new year. No commitments are required, just openness. Call the parish office at 945-6673 for more details and to register.
