Garfield Re-2 Summer Food Service Program
Garfield School District No. Re-2 announces participation in the Summer Food Service Program and, through this federal program, will provide meals for all children in the community (18 years of age and younger) free of charge. Meals are the same for all children regardless of national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of meal service.
The program will begin on Monday, June 9, and run through Thursday, July 31, at Rifle Middle School, 753 Railroad Ave. Breakfast is from 9-9:30 a.m., and lunch is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Adult lunches may be purchased for $3.
Learn about zero energy home design
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is partnering with Energy Tech, a zero+ energy consulting firm from Carbondale, to present a “Zero Energy Ready” training course at the Carbondale Library, 320 Sopris Ave., on from 8-11:30 a.m. June 9. This training is free and open to the public and is designed for residential professionals and individuals interested in learning more about net zero energy homes. Those who plan on attending should RSVP to richardmills422@aol.com.
