Shining Mountains Refuge meeting

Please come and support this grassroots project in the Roaring Fork Valley. The mission is to create a facility for adults, families and adolescents without homes. The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Monday, June 30, at the Glenwood Springs Library Conference room. All are welcome.



Libraries closed for Independence Day

All six branches of the Garfield County Libraries will be closed Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. The libraries will resume normal hours at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 5. You can still browse and request books, movies and more at http://www.gcpld.org during the closure.



Professor Proton’s Science Show

Professor Proton will amaze and enlighten you with his interactive science show. Come learn about force, motion, electricity and more from this crazy mad scientist as part of the Summer Reading Program for children. These free programs will be held on Tuesday, July 8, at 10:30 a.m. at the Carbondale Branch Library and 1:30 p.m. at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library; on Wednesday, July 9, at 10:30 a.m. at the New Castle Branch Library and 1:30 p.m. at the Silt Branch Library; and Thursday, July 10, at 10:30 a.m. at the Rifle Branch Library and 1:30 p.m. at the Parachute Branch Library. Aman Sircus Yo Yo Master

Prepare to be amazed by Aman Sircus in a way you have never experienced before. Aman will perform using yo-yos and other skill toys, while adding a new-age twist to old tricks alongside electronic music. These Teen Summer Reading events will be held on Tuesday, July 8, at 1 p.m. at the Rifle Branch Library and 4 p.m. at the Parachute Branch Library; on Wednesday, July 9, at 1 p.m. at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library and 4 p.m. at the Carbondale Branch Library; and on Thursday, July 10, at 1 p.m. at the New Castle Branch Library and 4 p.m. at the Silt Branch Library.
