Libraries closed for Independence Day
All six branches of the Garfield County Libraries will be closed Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. The libraries will resume normal hours at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 5. You can still browse and request books, movies and more at http://www.gcpld.org during the closure.
Gluten-Free Cooking class
Learn to cook gluten free and support Literacy Outreach on July 19 at the Glenwood Springs Methodist Church. Gluten is found in wheat and certain other grains and can be a problem for individuals with gluten intolerance, or celiac disease. By avoiding food items that contain gluten, it is possible to lead a symptom-free life. However, many food products, especially bread, contain gluten. Learn to make a dough that can be used for pizza, calzones and stromboli. Make gluten-free cookies and bread. Participants will make both meat and veggie pizza for lunch, which is included in the price. Salad and a dairy free option will also be available for lunch. Please note we will not be in a gluten free kitchen. We will be cooking gluten free, but the food will not be 100 percent gluten free, because the kitchen and utensils are not.
To register, call Literacy Outreach at 970-945-5282. Cost is $55 with lunch included. All proceeds benefit Literacy Outreach’s” Learning English through Cooking” classes.
