Remembering Rifle

Remembering Rifle will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Rifle Creek Museum, at 337 East Ave. in Rifle with featured guest Jake Mall. Jake was born and raised in Rifle and graduated from Rifle Union High School. He worked for Garfield County Road and Bridge for 25 years and has been a successful businessman in our community. He has experienced many changes in the Rifle area over these many years and would love to share them with you. Come reminisce, share memories and tall tales with him.

KDNK board of directors meeting

The KDNK board of directors will hold its next meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at the offices of KDNK, 76 S. Second St. in Carbondale. The meeting is open to the public. An agenda is posted at the KDNK office. For information contact KDNK at 963-0139.

Palisade peach fundraiser

Announcing the Up Town Market Palisade Peach fundraiser to benefit the Laestadian Lutheran Church of the Roaring Fork Valley. Get your peaches fresh from the orchard. Place your order by Aug. 14 by emailing or calling/texting 970-274-9738. Pick up will be at the church, 1859 N. First St. in Silt, from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 21.

Options include:

• 18-pound box: $20 for ripes (need to be eaten or used quickly) or $30 for firsts (good for a week or so)

• Peaches by the pound: $1.20 per pound for ripes or $1.60 per pound for firsts

• Canned peaches: $8 per quart

• Peach jam: $6.50 per pint

• Frozen peach pie: $14

• Frozen peach crisp: $12

All peach items are homemade using fresh peaches.

Extra peach items will be on hand, on a first-come, first serve basis, for those who don’t pre-order. Other freshly baked homemade items (breads, caramel and cinnamon rolls, cookies, bars, etc.) will also be available for purchase at the same time.

Archaeological society potluck picnic

The Roaring Fork Chapter of the Colorado Archaeological Society will have its annual potluck picnic at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at the south shelter in Veltus Park. Burgers and brats will be provided; others may bring side dishes or desserts and their choice of drinks. Anyone interested in archaeology is welcome to attend. Catholic Charities collecting school supplies

Catholic Charities is collecting school supplies for the upcoming year through Aug. 14 at its offices at 1004 Grand Ave. in Glenwood Springs between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Drop-off boxes are also available at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church office at 1885 Blake Ave. For more information call 970-384-2060 or visit
