Politics of Sustainability Lecture

Elise Osenga, research associate at Aspen Global Change Institute, will share an overview of AGCI’s mission of furthering the scientific understanding of Earth systems and global environmental change from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at the Roaring Fork High School auditorium in Carbondale.

Lion’s Club

The Lion’s Club of Glenwood Springs invites you to attend a bench dedication to honor former Lions Dale Snearly, Robert Buckmaster and Desmond Harris this Monday, Nov 10, at noon. The bench is located at Two Rivers Park by the totem pole. You are encouraged to bring photos and memories to share. These men contributed much to our community. Let us gather to remember them well.

Carbondale Middle School Veterans Day Celebration

The Carbondale Middle School Band will present its annual Veterans Day Celebration at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, in the Carbondale Middle School Auditorium, 180 Snowmass Drive. The band will perform “The Star Spangled Banner,” the Armed Forces Salute, and “The Stars and Stripes Forever” among other selections. All veterans and the public are welcome.

Support for Survivors After Suicide

The Glenwood Springs chapter of HEARTBEAT — Support for Survivors After Suicide — will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11. HEARTBEAT is open to anyone who has been touched by suicide, no matter how long ago. This peer group does not provide or replace therapy; it is a safe place where mutual support can be found with others who share this unique pain. We all survive one heartbeat at a time.

HEARTBEAT meets at the First United Methodist Church in Glenwood Springs. Use the Bethel Chapel entrance of the church located at 824 Cooper Ave.

Elks celebrate Veterans Day

The public is invited to attend a patriotic celebration of Veterans Day at 5 p.m. on Nov. 11 at the Glenwood Springs BPOE Elks Lodge at 51939 Highway 6. Snacks and an open bar will be provided. The evening will include talks about the significance of Veterans Day and to thank veterans and active duty military for their service to the nation. What to Do When Someone Dies

Have you lost a loved one recently? Do you have questions on how to administer their estate? The Glenwood Springs Branch Library will host an informational workshop at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13. This workshop, presented by a representative from Brown & Brown PC, will cover topics such as probate vs. nonprobate, how and when to distribute the assets, what taxes may be owed, creditor claims, what if there isn’t a will, what happens if the family starts fighting, and does the court need to be involved.
