What to Do When Someone Dies

Have you lost a loved one recently? Do you have questions on how to administer their estate? The Glenwood Springs Branch Library will host an informational workshop at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13. This workshop, presented by a representative from Brown & Brown PC, will cover topics such as probate vs. nonprobate, how and when to distribute the assets, what taxes may be owed, creditor claims, what if there isn’t a will, what happens if the family starts fighting, and does the court need to be involved. Thinking about going vegan? Grand River Health family physician Dr. Laurie Marbas will host informational presentations about the immense health benefits of a vegan lifestyle. Learn how to transition, to shop on a limited budget, collect new recipes, and more. Discover how simple dietary changes can improve the overall health of you and your family. Local musicians to perform holiday CD release concert to benefit LIFT-UP

Local singer-songwriters, Jan Garrett and JD Martin, will be performing songs from their new holiday CD, “All These Gifts” on Saturday, November 15 from 5-7 p.m. at Snowmass Cottages, across from the Old Snowmass Conoco station. Parking is available in the RFTA parking lot. The $30 ticket includes a copy of the new CD, a wine and cheese reception from 5pm to 6pm, and the concert from 6-7 p.m. Jan Garrett said, “our new CD is all about the spirit of generosity, and giving and receiving from the heart. We are honored to help raise awareness about LIFT-UP and their work in the valley at our release celebration. Also, a portion of the proceeds will go to LIFT-UP to support services for our neighbors in need during the holiday season.” Learn more at

Libraries Closing for Thanksgiving


The Rifle, New Castle and Carbondale branch libraries will be closing early at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, in celebration of Thanksgiving. Then, all six branches of the Garfield County Libraries will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28. The libraries will reopen at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29.

WindWalkers challenge match

The KNU Foundation will match every dollar up to $20,000 that WindWalkers Equine Assisted Learning & Therapy Center raises until Nov. 30. Online payments can be made through the WindWalkers website homepage ( by clicking Donate. All contributions help WindWalkers offer effective therapeutic activities to people with challenges.
