NAMI Roaring Fork Valley class

NAMI of the Roaring Fork Valley is offering a 12-week class for families with a family member who has mental illness. The classes meet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays starting Feb. 16. For more information or to register, call Anika at 970-618-7770.

Hospice volunteer training to be

held in Glenwood Springs

Hospice of the Valley will host comprehensive training sessions for volunteers in Garfield County on Thursday through Saturday, April 16-18, at the Colorado State Veterans Home at 851 N. Fifth St., Rifle. The three sessions will meet the required 12-hour training and will occur from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, April 16-17, culminating in an all-day 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. training on Saturday. Those who would like to be of comfort to those with a terminal illness, including military veterans, are encouraged to apply. Training topics will include dispelling hospice myths, how to be a good listener, care and comfort measures, guidelines for spiritual care, family systems, and understanding grief and bereavement.
