Toy drive for flood victims

High Tone Auto Body is partnering with A Precious Child to collect new toys for victims of the flooding in Colorado. High Tone will deliver the toys to A Precious Child’s warehouse in Denver. Toys can be dropped off until Nov. 22 at High Tone Auto Body, 265 E. Cody Lane in Basalt; and Sopris Liquor & Wine, 1026 Colorado 133 in Carbondale.

Glenwood Springs Annual Community Greeting Cards now on sale

The 2013-2014 Annual Community Greeting Card is now available through the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association. The card is a reproduction of an original painting by Arlene Law, titled “Fun for All. All for fun.” It was selected as the winner of the 2012 Community Greeting Card contest at the 50th annual Fall Art Festival. The cost of this exclusive card is $15 per package of 12. Imprinting is available, and previous year’s cards are also available by special order. Carbondale Card

The 2014 Carbondale Card, offering specials, discounts and coupons from participating Carbondale Chamber businesses, is now on sale. Cardholders can scan the code on their card or visit the Chamber website for monthly specials and participating businesses. Cards are $25 each and will be valid from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31. Cards can be purchased from the Carbondale Chamber in the Third Street Center or visit http://www.Carbondale.com for a list of retailers selling the card.

Carbondale Edward Jones Branch Office collects cans for LIFT-UP

Dave Weimer, an Edward Jones financial advisor in Carbondale, is supporting LIFT-UP by using his office as a drop-off location for a canned food drive. Local residents and businesses may help those less fortunate in the community by bringing in items to the Edward Jones branch office, 0326 Highway 133, Suite 110, Carbondale, during regular business hours through Dec. 15.

Affordable senior housing in Battlement Mesa

In partnership with the Garfield County Housing Authority, Mesa Vista Residence is offering a voucher program for seniors 62 and older to provide housing for low income seniors. Studio and 1-bedroom units are available. Amenities include all utilities except phone, cable TV, laundry facilities, daily social activities, Wi-Fi access, Access/membership to Battlement Mesa Activity Center, and 24-hour emergency response. Pets, companion and service animals are welcome. For an additional fee, meal plans, housekeeping, beauty/barber shop, scheduled shopping trips and activity outings are available. Operation Christmas Shoebox

The Orchard will again serve as a collection point for Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box drive. Residents are asked to pack shoe boxes with gifts (including small toys, personal care items, school supplies and hard candy) that will be distributed to children in more than 100 countries suffering from natural disaster, war, terrorism, disease, famine and poverty.

From noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, all shoe boxes will be packed and shipped.
