Tour a SNOTEL site: Understanding Snowpack and its role in Western Water

How is snowpack data collected in remote mountain locations? Come see for yourself and become a snow surveyor for a day with Roaring Fork Conservancy and Natural Resources Conservation Service at “Tour a SNOTEL site! Understanding Snowpack and its role in Western Water” from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, Feb. 26. Meet at the Redstone Inn for coffee, refreshments and an introduction to snow science and its critical importance in water supply prediction in the west. Then head out into the snow on McClure Pass for some hands-on exploration at a SNOTEL monitoring site, conduct a snow course survey, and dig a snow pit.

Cost is $30 per person, $20 for RFC members, and registration is required at http://www.roaringfork.org.
