Ross Montessori School Saturday Planting Festivals

Ross Montessori School is creating Carbondale’s first natural playground and will hold one more Saturday Planting Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 27 at 109 Lewies Lane. Help build forts, plant shade and wind barriers for the apiary. Fill a berm with nectar, pollen and habitat for moths, hummingbirds and flutterbys. Help build an insectary. Bring gloves and tools — shovels, 5-gallon buckets, garden carts, wheelbarrows — and energy. Worthwhile snacks and plenty to drink will be provided.

3rd annual Western Slope Memorial Day Ride May 29

All bikes and vehicles are welcome for the third annual Western Slope Memorial Day Ride on May 29. Registration is at 8 a.m. at Glenwood Springs Mall Boot Barn Parking Lot. Kickstands up at 10:30 a.m. to Rosebud Cemetery for a ceremony until noon. Ride the Memorial Highway to Bair Ranch Rest Area, then to Rifle Vets Memorial Park and finally up to Colorado State Veterans Home for barbecue from Smokehouse 1776 and a fundraiser raffle for veterans. Registration fee for the ride is $20 and covers meal and patches. For more information call (970) 618-0272.



Annual LIFT-UP Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser scheduled for June 5

LIFT-UP has announced the annual LIFT-UP Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser hosted by Sammy’s Rocky Mountain Steakhouse, presented by Chef Donny Andre, will be held from 5-8 p.m. Monday, June 5. All proceeds from the spaghetti plate dinners benefit LIFT-UP. The dinner includes tasty spaghetti, Caesar salad, bread and choice of iced tea or lemonade. Additional beverage options are available for purchase.
