River Center groundbreaking in Basalt on July 7

Roaring Fork Conservancy will be breaking ground on its River Center at 3 p.m. Friday, July 7.

Located in downtown Basalt, the River Center will provide a central location to engage the community in the valley’s rivers. It will house Roaring Fork Conservancy’s operations and feature a unique combination of accessibility, visibility and functionality.

The River Center is an innovative concept to inform, share and model the actions and interactions necessary to protect our exceptional rivers and watershed.

The River Center will also house the Watershed Institute, a nonpartisan forum to foster informed collaboration on western water issues.

The Watershed Institute will take advantage of the River Center’s proximity to Rocky Mountain Institute’s new Innovation Center. Together, these two institutions hope to bring many new visitors to Basalt as they address inextricably linked water and energy initiatives.
