Health care Issues in Rural Colorado

Connect for Health Colorado’s board advisory group is hosting a meeting at Colorado Mountain College, 802 Grand Ave. in Glenwood Springs, to discuss rural issues in health care from 2-4 p.m. Aug. 1. The meeting will feature guest speakers Alexandra Caldwell of the Colorado Health Institute and Jason Cleckler, executive director of Delta County Memorial Hospital. Starwood concert



Starwood, Aspen’s favorite band from the ’70s is reuniting for a great night of their original and much-beloved songs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at the Ute Theatre in Rifle.

Their music was the soundtrack to the ’70s. Original members Bobby Mason, Bryan Savage and Haden Gregg will be joined by three of Colorado’s finest musicians: Larry Thompson, JD Martin and Dave Johnson.



Starwood and its individual members have played with nearly every band that came through Aspen in its musical heyday: John Denver, The Eagles, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Jimmy Buffett and many more.

Glenwood Springs Art Guild demonstration

The Glenwood Springs Art Guild’s August free demonstration will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1630 Grand Ave. in Glenwood Springs. Linda Helmich will demonstrate contour drawing. The general meeting will follow. The public is invited to this demonstration. Local authors Linda Flynn, Jill Sheeley and Corrie Karnan will read from their books and share their experiences with the writing and publishing process. Join us for this fun and educational event at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at the Carbondale Branch Library. It’s free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Progressive Christian sermon series

Join the congregations of Carbondale and Basalt Community United Methodist Churches for an eight-week sermon series by Pastor Brad Walston on what it means to be a progressive Christian, and a rediscovery of the Gospel as a life-giving message that still transforms; 8:30 a.m. Sundays through Aug. 27 at Basalt, 0167 Holland Hills Rd., and 10:30 a.m. at Carbondale, 385 S. Second St.
