Free food boxes for qualifying seniors

Boxes of food containing canned vegetables and fruits, peanut butter, cereal, pasta or rice, canned meat, fruit juice, shelf-stable or nonfat dry milk and a 2-pound block of cheese and are distributed every month to qualifying seniors. To qualify you must be at least 60 years of age, be a resident of Colorado and have a gross income below listed guidelines (one person household: $1,287/month; 2 people: $1,736; 3: $2,184). The next distribution will be from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, Dec. 15, at the Methodist Church at 824 Cooper Ave. Subsequent distributions will be on the third Thursday of each month at the same time. To receive food, show up on the 15th with a picture ID and proof of residency and fill out a brief application. People can pick up food for others, but both should be there for the first pickup.
