Club Rotario awards scholarships to 19 students
Roaring Fork Rotary (aka Club Rotario) recently honored 19 students with scholarships for the 2014/15 school year. These scholarships ranged from $500 to$1,000 for a total of $15,000 awarded. The students awarded are all local graduating seniors and/or currently enrolled Colorado Mountain College students from Basalt through Rifle.
Beckler of Glenwood graduates with high honors
Hannah Beckler of Glenwood Springs and a graduate of Glenwood High School graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with high honors this spring.
GSHS Financial Literacy students earn certifications
Glenwood Springs High School Financial Literacy classes, taught by Jill Wilson, recently took the National Financial Literacy Certification Exam. Twenty-five students successfully passed and were awarded certificates. They were prepared for the test by participating in a semester long course, “Foundations in Personal Finance” authored by money management expert Dave Ramsey.
Students receiving the certifications were: Brooke Arrieta, Kiefer Brocker, Taylor Fiscus, Yaneet Montanez, Devyn Mote, Julyana Ulloa, Porter Biggs, Ellie Tomasso, Joseph Blackwell, Jade Cluff, Madie Dardynski, Hanna Elwell, Jaqueline Farias Sanchez, Flora Fischbacher, Kylie Fleming, Lolita Gregory, Becca Grondahl, Neeko Medina, Manuel Molina, Tanahayry Morales, Ashely Oddo, Delaney Passmore, Daniel Soria, Brittanee Young and Colten Zippay.
These students were the first in Colorado to attempt the National Certification Exam, which is made possible by the New York State Affiliate of National JumpStart, a coalition designed to promote financial education nationwide.
Jacqueline Larouche named to dean’s list at Georgia Tech
Jacqueline Larouche of Carbondale made the dean’s list for spring semester at the Georgia Institute of Technology. This designation is awarded to undergraduate students who have a 3.0 or higher academic average for the semester.
Coal Ridge’s Tinker graduates from University of Dubuque
John Michael Tinker graduated May 17 from the University of Dubuque in Iowa on the dean’s list with a bachelor’s degree in health and wellness. The dean’s list recognizes students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Tinker graduated from Coal Ridge High School and lives in Silt.
