Jacksons receive Walter Zeller Fellow Award

On Tuesday, Dec. 9, the Glenwood Springs Kiwanis Club presented Carter Jackson’s wife, Louise Jackson, and daughter, Sandy Jackson, with a Walter Zeller Fellow Award, in honor of Carter Jackson, a longtime member of the club. The Walter Zeller Fellow Award honors an individual who exhibits the kindred spirit of generosity, demonstrated by Walter Zeller, who made the first gift to establish the Kiwanis International Foundation in 1940. The club’s financial gift was made to The Eliminate Project, to eradicate maternal and neonatal tetanus.

Roaring Fork Quilt Guild awards quilt

The Roaring Fork Quilt Guild held a drawing for its second annual Raffle Quilt, titled “Radiant Lone Star,” at noon on Dec. 11 at Glenwood Sewing Center. The winning ticket, belonging to Nick Lebby, a local Aspen businessman, was randomly selected by Glenwood Sew customer Catherine Loenaitis. This queen-sized quilt was planned, pieced, sewn and quilted by members of the quilt guild. Proceeds from this drawing will be donated to help fund local valley Girl Scouts to attend summer camps.
