Kuper earns Eagle Scout Award

Wyatt Kuper, son of Amber Kuper of De Beque, has earned the Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout award. He will be recognized in an Eagle Scout Court of Honor March 13 at the De Beque Community Center.

A member of the Rifle Boy Scout Troop 223, Wyatt began scouting at the age of 7 as a Cub Scout. He is one of only approximately 7 percent of Boy Scouts who attain the rank of Eagle Scout. He is a life member of the Arrowmen and has served in a leadership position in his troop.

Wyatt’s Eagle Scout Service Project was to map and index the De Beque Cemetery, creating a memorial for the veterans interred there and set a marker for those veterans who did not have a grave marker. His completed project can be seen just north of the town of De Beque.

Wyatt is a sophomore at Grand Valley High School. He is active in soccer, basketball and baseball.

Besides Boy Scouts, Wyatt has been an active member of FFA, 4-H, Student Council and the National Honor Society.
