Libraries celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday
Each year, the Garfield County Libraries celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday (March 2) through special Storytimes and related events. This year, the libraries partnered with local sewing enthusiasts Judy Martens, Ellen Wheeler and Sharon Pettinger, as well as the city of Rifle to bring a little Seussical whimsy to our area.
Cat in the Hat inspired hats adorned statues in front of the Rifle Branch Library and City Hall and in Centennial Park and the roundabouts near I-70. The sewing trio created 22 hats in January and February to prepare for this event.
