Kiwanis OWL Awards

The Glenwood Springs Kiwanis Club presented five (out of 204) 11th-graders from Glenwood Springs High School with OWL Awards on May 17. The OWL Award recognizes outstanding scholarship, community service and student leadership. The five recipients were Kelly Fegan, Lauren Fleming, Alec (Brandon) Benzel, McKinley Mueller and Kelly Tran. Dr. Jim Setterberg chaired the OWL selection committee.

Mt. Sopris Rotary Club donates to Youth Entity



The Mt. Sopris Rotary Club and Art Ackerman recently presented donations totaling $2,000 to YouthEntity. Shown in the photo are past president Karen Eden presenting a check in the amount of $1,000 from the club. The club’s donation was generously matched by Ackerman, the founder of Mt. Sopris Rotary Club. Gerry McDaniel, board member, accepted the checks on behalf of YouthEntity. YouthEntity is a Carbondale-based organization designed to empower youth to learn about various occupational options through mentorship and internships.
