LIFT-UP receives support from the Walmart Foundation

LIFT-UP gratefully acknowledges a $30,000 grant received from the Walmart Foundation. In 2012, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation gave more than $1 billion in cash and in-kind contributions around the world. In 2010, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation launched “Fighting Hunger Together” — a $2 billion cash and in-kind commitment through 2015 to fight hunger in America. The initiative leverages Walmart’s size and resources to provide nutritious food and the Walmart Foundation’s ability to grant funding to nonprofits that help elevate the issue. “It’s great that Walmart gives back to the communities where its stores are located by supporting organizations like LIFT-UP that assist families in need,” said LIFT-UP’s executive director, Mike Powell. The Walmart Foundation also supports initiatives in the areas of sustainability, women’s economic empowerment, career opportunity, veterans and military families, and disaster relief.

Another girl for the Aragons

Lily Sophia Aragon arrived at Valley View Hospital at 7:45 a.m. April 12, 2013, weighing 5 pounds, 14 ounces. She joins big sister Emma Grace, who is ready to teach her the ropes. Her parents, Eddie and Terri, are so excited to have another little girl.

Lily’s grandparents are Bud and Deana Frisch, Marcella Aragon, and David and Lucy Aragon, all of Grand Junction, and Robert and Carol Strode of Grants Pass, Ore.

The Aragon family would like to send a special thank-you to the nurses and staff of the Family Birth Place at Valley View Hospital for their amazing care during their extended stay.
