GSES Lego Robotics team places high

On Nov. 15, 11 fifth-graders from Glenwood Springs Elementary School competed in a First Lego League (FLL) Robotics competition in Aspen.

Out of 24 teams, the GSES team took second in the project category and overall placed among the top six teams, earning them a spot to compete at the regional meet in Denver on Jan. 15.

FLL is a program designed to get kids ages 9-14 enthused about science and technology. The teams are evaluated by a panel of judges on core values, project presentation, robot design and robot performance. Local companies SGM Inc. and Climate Control are giving financial support to the team to help offset travel costs for the Jan. 15 Denver meet.
