Rowland celebrates 89th
Fred Rowland recently celebrated his 89th birthday with friends at the Glenwood Springs Elks Lodge. He is an army veteran of World War II and is still very active and inspiring to those much younger. Fred, thank you for your military service and ongoing service to the Elks Lodge and the community.
Ross students create Great Kapok Tree
The kindergarten and fifth-grade classes at Ross Montessori raised $1,000 for the rainforests in South America by reading and doing kind acts towards the earth. For each kind act the students decorated plants and flowers to fill in a floor-to-ceiling tree that was the center of a play called “The Great Kapok Tree.” They performed their play for the entire school as well as the patients and staff at Heritage Park Care Center. The students gathered pledges for each book that they read totaling over 300 books and saving 40 acres in the rainforest through the Nature Conservancy. Janice Forbes, June Fox and Dave Pietsch were the teachers guiding the students through this wonderful adventure. To act locally and make a difference globally is a goal that this group embraced wholeheartedly.
