Basalt National Honor Society donates to Hope Center

The Hope Center recently received a $3,807 check from the Basalt High School National Honor Society. They held a Color Run on April 11 and dedicated the proceeds to the Hope Center. It was such a great success and enjoyed by the school and community as a whole that they will be hosting this event each year in Basalt with proceeds benefiting the Hope Center. Basalt High School teachers and students realize the struggles teens face and want to raise awareness and start conversations in a fun way that unites the community.

Scouts, Elks honor Flag Day

On Flag Day, June 14, the Scout Troop sponsored by BPOE Elks Lodge 2286 presented each of the American flags flown by this nation since the Revolutionary War era. Patrick Stowe, assisted by other lodge officers, recited the history of the nation’s flags at a public ceremony held at the Glenwood Springs Elks Lodge. It is a tradition of the Elks for each of its lodges to recognize Flag Day and acknowledge those that have served, and are serving in, the military.
