Kiwanis Bicycle Rodeo a success
Once again the Kiwanis Bicycle Rodeo at the Valley View Hospital’s Kids and Teens Safety Fair on Saturday, Sept. 10, was a great success. The rodeo complemented the helmet safety instructions and donations provided by the hospital. We are very thankful to the generous contributions from the city of Glenwood Springs for the course equipment, to Sunlight Ski and Bike for the loan of bicycles, to the Glenwood Police Department for the officer who helped introduce the kids to the course and bike safety, to the great assistance from the nursing students and high school Key Club students and other volunteers who made this a fun safety learning experience for the kids.
First responder lunch
Glenwood Springs Elks Lodge 2286 treated 250 first responder personnel and their families to a barbecue lunch at the Garfield County Court House on Sept. 16. The lunch was a grateful thank-you for the dedicated service we receive from our police, sheriff, fire, and highway patrol officers and their staffs. Twenty-five local sponsors provided gift certificates and prizes. In addition, $600 in donations was received that will be donated to a scholarship fund for children of fallen officers or a similar charity.
