Elks, Scouts hold flag retirement ceremony

The Glenwood Springs Elks Lodge held a flag retirement ceremony Dec. 7 to commemorate the day Pearl Harbor was bombed by the Japanese 75 years ago.

Members of Boy Scout Troop 225 conducted the ceremony outside and were undaunted by the very cold weather. Tyler Madden conducted the Boy Scouts’ flag retirement ceremony. The other young men of the troop completed the folding and burning of old flags in the method tradition dictates.

Members of the lodge and the public viewed the proceedings and appreciated the efforts of the scouts and their leaders.
