Special Olympic fundraising efforts through Tip-a-Cop successful

On July 19, the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office joined law enforcement officers from across the state to raise funds for Special Olympics. The event was the second annual Tip-A-Cop with Chili’s and involved all 35 Chili’s locations across the state.

A total of $86,925.64 was raised for Special Olympics in just eight hours. Law enforcement officers, including police officers, sheriff deputies and state troopers, worked at the various Chili’s restaurants for eight hours. Law enforcement collected $78,099.64 with an added 15 percent “give back” from Chili’s of $8826.00 to reach the final total.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office raised the most funds at $4,403.50. In Glenwood Springs, $1,440 was raised through the efforts of four sheriff’s deputies and four Special Olympians.

The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, on behalf of all law enforcement in Garfield County and the Special Olympians of Colorado, would like to thank the community and Chili’s for their support and cooperation in this great community event.
