Hickory House helps Buddy Program
On behalf of the Buddy Program staff, board of directors and the nearly 1,000 youth that we serve in the valley, I would like to extend a huge, heartfelt thank-you to the Hickory House for once again selecting the Buddy Program as the beneficiary of its annual Thanksgiving Day community dinner.
Owner Paul Dioguardi, the fantastic Hick House staff and all of the volunteers who contribute their time during their days off are heroes and set a shining example of the spirit of the holidays.
The event would not have been possible without generous contributions from Alsco Linen, Aspen Caterers, Neal Henley, The Chris King family, the Luu family, Main Street Bakery, Paradise Bakery and U.S. Food Service. And thank you to The Aspen Daily News and Aspen Times for helping to publicize the event.
Thanks to all of you in the community who came out for dinner; more than $4,300 was raised for the Buddy Program, 100 percent of which supports the youth that we serve.
We also had a few people interested in becoming Big Buddies.
The Buddy Program served 945 youth in 2012, up from 650 in 2011, and will serve nearly 1,000 this year.
We could not continue to grow our services without the continuing support of all of you in the community. To make a donation to the Buddy Program, or to find out more about becoming a Big Buddy or volunteering, visit us at http://www.BuddyProgram.org.

Day of Infamy Snowshoe Race a smashing success
The 22nd annual Day of Infamy Snowshoe Race was held on Sunday, Dec. 8, and it was a smashing success thanks to all of our wonderful sponsors and volunteers. We would not have been able to pull this event off without all of the generous sponsorship and other donations from Alpine Bank, Glenwood Oral Surgery PC, Glenwood Springs Subaru, Dalby, Wendland & Co. PC, Freebyrd Real Estate, Yampah Builders Inc., Glenwood Springs Chamber of Commerce, Blue Eyed Designs, Aspen Orthopaedic Associates, Beaver Creek Nordic Center, Somethin’ Sweet Custom Promotions LLC, Mountain Sports Outlet, Independence Run and Hike, and Summit Canyon Mountaineering, just to name a few.
A huge thank-you also goes out to Sunlight Mountain Resort, which let us have this race through their beautiful Babbish Gulch trail system. We would also like to thank all of the wonderful volunteers, Mike Pearson and Gerry VanderBeek for helping with course set up, and of course Dorothy Howard. Proceeds from the race benefit Colorado Animal Rescue, Rifle Animal Shelter and Valley Dog Rescue, and the animals appreciate your support. The race was tons of fun, and we hope to see you all again next year.
