Celticfest and Oktoberfest still going strong after 15years
A very heartfelt go raibh maith agat and danke schön from Carbondale Recreation to all the staff members, sponsors, volunteers, entertainers, vendors and patrons of the 2016 Celticfest and Oktoberfest. We are now 15 years running and still going strong, and there are many to thank for that.
First of all, a huge thank-you to my staff: Eric Brendlinger (he may be the Boss Man but he doesn’t mind taking orders), Margaret Donnelly (who jumped in full force on her first fests), Jason Thraen (who came and helped out even with a week-old newborn at home), Gracie Piccinati (who put in enormously long days and never stopped smiling), Jonelle Luther (who helped wherever she was needed) and Trevor Capel-Jones and Olive Tampol (who worked at the fests after working at their other jobs).
Next, our sponsors. Thank you so much to these returning sponsors: Premier Party Rental, Roger Janicek and David Grego with Orrison Distributing, Mike Stokes with Warsteiner, Dave and Alyssa Reindel with EverGreen Events, Andy Grogger and crew with Andy’s Ice Carvings, John Ackerman with Ackerman Log and Timber, City Market Carbondale and El Jebel, Comfort Inn and Suites, Sopris Liquor and Wine, and Roaring Fork Beer Co. A big thank-you to our new sponsors that allowed us to offer free face painting and pumpkin carving for the kids: Trevor Cannon with Umbrella Roofing, Katy and Dr. Andrew Nardecchia with Carbondale Family Dental, and Chris Peterson with Ace Hardware.
Next the volunteers. This may be one of the funnest volunteer gigs to sign up for, but we sure appreciate our volunteers all the same. Thank you Dan McGuire, Becky Wagner, Jackie Powers, Bryant Maggert, Jeff Jackel, Katie Montie, Audra Schmidt, Scott Hanley, Meghan Kirkland, Grant McKinnon, Jay Harrington, Rebecca Murray, Darin Binion, Cortney McDougall, Dan Giese, Karen Wahrmund, Ken and Stephanie Keister, Noah Bauldridge, Jake and Brady Heuer, Mark Wisroth, Trevor and Nicki Cannon, Brent Moss, T Fink, Kimberly McCleary, Richard Kinley, Kerry Van der Voort, Jonathan Stokely, Kellie Land, Andrea Korber, Megan Ravenscraft, Kari Heuer, Dan Self, Gail and Tom Heuer, Leigh Heuer, Amy and Craig Helm, and any one I missed.
Next the vendors and entertainers. Our vendors: Mac’s Snack Shack (eight years running now), Renewal by Anderson, Nerium, Sweet Coloradough, and About Face.
The entertainers: Potcheen, The Average German Band, Those Austrian Guys, Chalet Dancers, and Pearl & Wood.
And finally to our fans — thank you for supporting us again. For those that wonder where all the money goes, it goes to the event. Celtic and Oktoberfest are break-even events and are run to show tourists and residents alike a good time in downtown Carbondale. We hope you keep coming back, and we hope you keep bringing new friends, too.
